University Heights police are investigating a matter in which a local woman, 38, reported that a male friend stole earrings from her apartment.

At 9:30 p.m. Aug. 3, police responded to a call about an occupied suspicious car parked in the street. As police approached, the car’s occupant started the vehicle’s engine, then drove up a driveway and into the back yard of a home where he did not belong.

It was learned that the driver, a Warrensville Heights man, 58, was wanted by Shaker Heights police on a warrant for trespassing. Further, University Heights police cited the man for driving under suspension, driving without a license, driving without lights, and driving with plates that had expired two years ago. Police impounded the man’s car.

At 12:25 a.m. Aug. 2, police were called to a residence on a report of a disturbance involving a University Heights man, 20, and a Ravenna woman, also 20. The two were arguing over the custody of their daughter when one of the parties brandished, but did not use, a Taser.

The man and woman did not wish to pursue charges, so officers took a report and initiated an investigation.

At 4:15 a.m. Aug. 4, an officer stopped a car for numerous traffic offenses. The driver, a Cleveland woman, 21, was cited for driving under suspension, speeding and not having working brake lights.

At 11 p.m. Aug. 4, a 38-year-old woman living in the Sampton Manor Apartments, 14140 Cedar Road, reported that a male friend, 38, of Ashland, left her apartment after allegedly stealing a pair of earrings valued at $709. Police are investigating.

At 1:30 a.m. Aug. 7, police were called to the Speedway gas station, 14458 Cedar Road, on a report of a domestic violence incident that started in Cleveland involving a Cleveland woman, 32, and a Cleveland man, 30.

As the two argued, the man struck the woman, who was driving, causing their car to crash into a pole. The man got out of the car and left the scene, and was later apprehended by University Heights police. The woman declined medical attention.

The case was turned over to Beachwood police as it was found that the crash occurred in that city.
