When it comes to celebrating holidays in fashion, no one likes the hyphenated Elizabeth Sursee. In fact, between the vintage Chanel ornaments on her tree and a series of dying for parties, this is more like Christmas than Christmas in her book. Sulcer once again collaborated with Ilene Joy, a high-end jewelry brand in New York City, to launch a series of personalized cocktails and signet rings and earrings, reminiscent of her favorite era-disco days and sparkling nights in the 1970s. We interviewed Sulcer to find out who she will go to Studio 54 with and what is on her fantasy wish list this season.

What are your vacation plans? What do you like best at this time of year? I am very excited about the holidays! My husband, son and I will go to Costa Rica for a magical holiday with family and friends. Regarding the holidays, my favorite thing is to be able to celebrate and reflect on the whole year together, and to escape the city temporarily. I like being close to nature, close to the ocean and the beach; it allows me to spend time recalling all the blessings in life, and my gratitude to everything and everyone.

Do you and your family have any interesting holiday traditions? My son Stone is three years old now. I like that everything he saw and experienced was so fresh and exciting. We have a beautiful white Christmas tree, and we always decorate it with antique Chanel ornaments. We also like to take my son to the Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas windows and Christmas trees of Sax and Bergdorf. He likes all the magical lights! This reminds me of how much I liked all the lights and decorations when I was a kid. What a special time of the year.

Tell us about your collection with Ilene Joy. How did you first meet and what attracted you to work together? Over the years, I have worked with Rae on some projects, so when she and Ilene launched Ilene Joy, I immediately noticed this. I used Ilene's gorgeous jewelry to design some of my clients, but I have never seen Ilene in person. When they asked me to cooperate in an official capacity, I was already very interested. After the initial phone call, it was a match made in heaven: a good atmosphere, great ideas, and like-minded spirit. We share our natural love for luxury and the charm of cool girls in an urban spirit.

We know you like your recommendation letter! What direction did you decide for this capsule? For me, as a style creator, it is very important to continue to grow as an artist. I like movies, art and fashion. This collaboration is a landmark moment for me. Ilene Joy is the perfect jewelry brand that brings my inspiration to life. I like the chic charm of the 70s, the mystery of Studio 54 and the glorious years of fashion. The strong architectural lines coupled with powerful green and blue gems remind me of the purest and most beautiful moments in life. I want to turn some of my dreams into reality-because of her magnificent and unique creation, no one is more perfect than Ilene Joy.

Tell us about the new 16-piece series! What momentum? What are your favorites? Traditionally, the Elizabeth Sulcer x Ilene Joy series is characterized by the high-end jewelry field. Through the characteristics of semi-precious stones and precious stones, it provides an opportunity for a more affordable price point and dominant gemstone in size. I hope that jewelry can reflect the exquisite charm of the 1970s. There are some beautiful cocktail rings inspired by men's signet rings, gemstone flip rings, big stone unsupported hugs, and architectural style white sapphire and aquamarine earring sets. We also ensure that the entire collection can be customized to the customer's specifications-if they want different stones, inlays, sizes-there is nothing Ilene can't or won't do.

What do we need to know about collection highlights and flip rings? Yes! it is necessary. The flip ring is essentially two rings combined into one. It has two large gems set in 18k gold that can be rotated to reveal the other side-from large white sapphires to green tourmalines or blue aquamarines. Ilene uses proprietary technology to ensure that the position of the ring on the finger is low enough while still maintaining the deep and vivid colors of the gemstone. This is an interesting, beautiful and innovative way to provide customers with more style choices.

You mentioned your love for the 70s. Who do you want to meet at Studio 54 most? I like the charm of the 70s! ! When can I live. I would love to party with Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol, David Bowie, Grace Jones and Debbie Harry.

What else can always inspire your sense of fashion and daily work? Every day in life is always different. It always depends on how busy I am, what work I am doing, or where I am going. I think the season is also important to my wardrobe and the weather outside. Finally, my mood-what role do I want to play today? ! Style is a powerful tool that can explain who you are, your tastes, your lifestyle, and what trends you are attracted to. My atmosphere during the day is chic, comfortable and casual, because I am usually on the go. At night, I like to bring out the luxurious and charming designer declaration appearance and dream!

What is your earliest jewelry memory? I have loved jewelry since I was very young. I will dress myself up with my mother's costume jewelry, "dress up" and polaroids for my brothers and sisters. I think I must be about three or four years old, wearing my mother's golden vintage Versace belt, Chanel high heels and diamond costume jewelry walking around at the cocktail party!

Speaking of, which accessories in your closet are currently being rotated in large numbers? YSL vesper gold metal slingback slingback high heels, Balenciaga black and white leather ankle boots, Bottega Veneta oversized black handbag with gold metal chain, Paco Rabanne gold metal hoop earrings and chain necklace, Chanel gold vintage chain logo belt, Bvlgari rose gold Serpenti ring .

How about the FW '21 trend and what do you like? I like all the iconic shapes and volume references in the FW '21 series. I recently designed the cover of Harper's Bazaar with Shalom Harlow. It is very fun to play with all the different characters and style trends. There are many more colors! It feels fresh and exciting to play.

Which party season items are you happy to wear again? Honestly, I am very happy to put on all the clothes again! Cocktail dress, smoking suit and beautiful high heels, and jewelry! It was so fun to see everyone again and celebrate and participate in these beautiful events!

Do you have any holiday party styling tips for us? What is failsafe that we can keep repeating and reinventing? Have some fun and take some risks. Style is about creating dreams. I also like to let me know in advance whether they fit, especially shoes-and whether they are comfortable! This helps me avoid being late for the event. My failsafe is the black and white Le Smoking suit. Another classic Palmer Girl look is a chic black YSL cocktail dress with pure black stockings and some personalized jewelry.

What's on your fantasy wish list this year? Style Chanel! !

At the end of 2021, what are you most grateful for? Every day, I think of my gratitude for my extremely loving and supportive husband and beautiful son. My children are really my rock. They remind me of the most important thing in life, our love and friendship are eternal. After this whirlwind, I am also very grateful for my health. Finally, I would like to thank all my loyal friends and agents who have supported me endlessly and celebrated with me throughout my life journey.

What is on your list of overall goals for this year + next year? What are you going to do next? I have several very exciting big projects to start in 2022. My own brand partner-stay tuned!

[Editor's note: To celebrate the ES x IJ series, the brand will host a pop-up event at the Faena Hotel during Art Basel Miami from December 1st to 2nd. ]
